How Unimelb Courses on Popular Culture Have Shaped My Understanding of Contemporary Society
Have you ever stopped to think about how prevalent popular culture is in our lives? From the TV shows we binge-watch to the music we listen to on our commutes, popular culture is all around us. And yet, it often goes unnoticed as a valuable source of insight into our society.
As a student at the University of Melbourne, I have had the opportunity to take several courses on popular culture. These courses have not only been entertaining but have also contributed significantly to my understanding of contemporary society.
Popular Culture as a Reflection of Society
One of the key takeaways from my studies is the idea that popular culture is a reflection of our society. This means that the media we consume is shaped by the cultural values, beliefs, and practices of the society we live in.
