DOH Releases Latest Health News: Updates on COVID-19 and Other Diseases
With the pandemic still raging on, the Department of Health (DOH) has recently released its latest updates on the current situation of COVID-19 in the Philippines, as well as other prominent diseases that are also affecting public health.
COVID-19 in the Philippines
According to the DOH, as of the latest count, there are currently more than 70,000 active cases of COVID-19 in the country. While there has been a decrease in the number of daily new cases, it is still important to be vigilant and follow the necessary health protocols such as good hygiene, wearing masks and face shields, and practicing social distancing.
The DOH also reported that there are still cases of the Delta variant in the country, which calls for an even stricter implementation of the said protocols. The vaccination rollout is also ongoing, with more Filipinos being inoculated each day.
Updates on Other Diseases
Aside from COVID-19, the DOH also shared updates on other diseases that are still prevalent in the country. One of them is dengue, which is a viral infection transmitted by mosquitoes. As of August 2021, there have been more than 57,000 dengue cases and 255 deaths reported in the country.
Another disease that has been making headlines recently is leptospirosis, which is a bacterial infection usually acquired through exposure to contaminated water. The DOH reports that there have been more than 1,600 cases and 133 deaths due to leptospirosis as of August 2021.
Staying Safe and Healthy
It is essential to stay informed about the latest health updates and take the necessary precautions to keep ourselves and those around us safe and healthy. Whether it is following the proper protocols for COVID-19, taking extra measures to prevent the spread of dengue, or being mindful of potential sources of leptospirosis, we must remain vigilant and proactive in protecting our health.
In conclusion, staying informed and practicing proper health protocols remain the best ways to combat the pandemic and other diseases. By working together, we can overcome these challenges and emerge stronger and healthier as a nation.
