My Journey: A Personal Leadership Analysis

As a young professional, I never quite understood what it meant to be a leader, and what it takes to become one. However, through my own personal journey of self-discovery and professional development, I have come to understand that leadership is not just about having a title or position of authority, but rather, it’s about having the right mindset, skills, and attributes to inspire and influence those around you.

What is Leadership?

At its core, leadership is about influencing others towards a common goal or objective. But what does it really take to be an effective leader? According to research by the Center for Creative Leadership, there are three key components to effective leadership: vision, expertise, and trust. Vision refers to a leader’s ability to see a future state and communicate that vision to others. Expertise refers to the knowledge and skills required to achieve that vision. And trust refers to the relationships and credibility a leader has with their team.

My Leadership Style

Throughout my own personal leadership journey, I have come to understand that my leadership style is predominantly transformational. This means that I strive to inspire and motivate those around me to be their best, and to achieve their goals. I do this by setting a strong vision, communicating it clearly, and providing support and guidance to those who need it. I also believe in leading by example, and am not afraid to roll up my sleeves and help my team when necessary.

Another important aspect of my own leadership journey has been the role of mentors and role models. Whether it’s a formal mentorship program, or simply seeking out advice from senior colleagues, having these role models can help us to grow and develop both personally and professionally.
