My School Life: How I Pretended To Be A Worthless Person at 22

As a student, our school life plays a crucial role in shaping our personality and our future. It is the period where we learn essential life skills, develop a perspective, and make decisions that impact our lives. Some of us have outstanding memories of school, while for others, it’s a phase they’d rather forget. For me, my school life was a turning point that changed my entire outlook on life, and in this blog, I’d like to share my story.

In the year 2000, I turned 22 and was in my last year of college. I was the epitome of a model student — always punctual, high grades, and an excellent academic record. However, I was also a sole breadwinner for my family, which put immense pressure on me. I had no social life outside of college and spent most of my time working part-time jobs to earn money. It was exhausting, and I felt like I was running on a hamster wheel.

It was during this time that I decided to pretend to be a worthless person to avoid the expectations and pressure I had to face every day. I started wearing baggy clothes, skipped meals, and stopped being punctual. I stopped caring about my grades and became a mediocre student. It was a conscious decision, and I can’t emphasize enough how liberating it felt. I felt like I finally had control over my life and wasn’t being pulled in different directions anymore.

However, it wasn’t a decision that I made lightly. I had carefully thought about the consequences of my actions and was willing to face them. I knew my grades would suffer, and it would impact my future job prospects. But for me, it was a choice between living a life on autopilot and actually living. And I chose to live.

As a result, I started to meet new people, got involved in extracurricular activities, and made lasting friendships. I discovered my passion for music and started playing the guitar, which became my source of joy and relaxation. It was like I had discovered a whole new world that I never knew existed.

However, the journey wasn’t easy. There were times when I felt guilty about my decision and thought I was wasting my potential. There were times when my family and friends were disappointed in me, and I had to explain my choices. But I was determined to stick to my decision and not let anyone dictate my life.

And that’s how I pretended to be a worthless person at 22 and ended up finding myself. It taught me that sometimes, we need to take a step back from the pressure and expectations around us and find our own way. It taught me to live my life on my terms and not let anyone else decide for me. It was a lesson that I’ll never forget and has helped me navigate through life’s challenges.

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed and stuck in a rut, take a step back, re-evaluate your priorities, and find your own way. You never know where it might lead you.
